The book was a holiday gift for a friend. I have no problem with the book itself it was greatly received by my friend which I also had to apologize for the book's condition. The corner was dinged, I worked for a publishing company and I have seen this happen to many books so I am in the frame of mine that the publisher let it go without pulling it to place for discount sale. I read a few reviews with similar complaints so I am going with an internal issue, that's a shame. I had other gifts for my friend and still I was sorry to present a person who has a great love of books and respect for their care a new book with a flaw, had it been a second hand it is understandable.

Found this at the library and then bought it as a birthday gift with a few mixers for a friend. The book is well written, well illustrated, and filled with clever puns and good cocktail recipes. I am excited to try them.

This is my second go to book. It's great while learning cardiology and trauma medicine. The heart itself can be a very complex and complicated organ and EKGs might feel intimidating at first but this book alongside classroom education, hands on education, pharmacology and your main trauma medicine book , are your survival guides. The layout is perfect, easy to find things, easy to add stick notes or your own handwritten notes. Cardiology changes with AHA every once in awhile but this book versus the most recent has no dramatic changes, so if I lost this book I'd feel comfortable buying the year of this book again. The pages don't bend or tear which is nice conclsidering the book is 5 years old and yes it took me 5 years to write a review but all the better because I can say it is durable and up to date with current standards.

Better than than the book

This was a great reference book during my Family Practice Residency. It was organized well and so small that I could carry it in my pocket. I was able to look up what to do quickly and I was lucky to have it. Thank you! It was delivered on time and in perfect condition.

great little reference for use during on-calls, even for Cardiology trainees, but guidelines are being updated again and AHA may come out with new version soon.Flow-charts formmanagment of arrythmias and CAd are very useful. Overall a good buy.

I bought this to update from the 2000 version. A handy reference and easy to bring along, with tons of useful information and flowcharts. Is also helpful when reviewing for ACLS re-certification.

I highly recommend this for anybody working in emergency medicine. Along with this title, I would purchase the quick-reference cards.

Very comprehensive .. very good review to keep in your lab coat to review in down times in a busy ER. Since this is rare to non-exitant in the ER, to get some down time, it's a very nice quick reference to keep those skills honed.

I think that a lot of people who work in information technology tend to think that the problems that we have with things like web-based search and retrieval are unique to Internet search engines and catalogue databases. I know that I've been working in the field while lacking an adequate sense of the historical basis of information organization.Svenonius breaks information organization down into ideology (purposes and principles), the formalization of the processes involved in information organization, knowledge based on research, and key problems that need to be solved. It's information that's very useful for anybody who is involved with organization of information-- even for people like me who work more on the technical than conceptual side of content management systems.

I keep this book close to me at work and usually stick it in my laptop case when I leave for home. It is my bible for metadata. The first time I read it, I carefully underlined passages with a fine light pencil. Now I've tossed book decorum to the winds and use highligher pens! To mention just one general topic, Elaine Svenonius grapples with all of the key issues that trained librarians face when cataloguing digital materials. She also covers controlled vocabularies from several perspectives, and understands the challenges/difficulties of applying standard "book" classifications to rich media collections. That it took me a long time to get through this book has nothing to do with her style -- Elaine Svenonius writes clearly, often beautifully -- but rather with the amount of information and the mind-expanding concepts, which I still mull over as I wrestle at work with asset management.

I purchased the book as a textbook for class. The information it covers is great, but I find the author uses too many parentheticals (I'm not sure why), which make it difficult to read. The "I'm not sure why" is an author comment and not necessary to read that last sentence I wrote, but I wanted to use an example.. I felt like the author was interjecting these types of comments throught the book and it took away from the wonderful content value that she put together. Otherwise, the book would get 5 stars for content.

The author certainly has a sophisticated vocabulary. However, it's unfortunate that the vocabulary often upstages the content or the attempt to convey meaningful content. The writing style could have been more clear. It's not necessary to construct convoluted sentences to appear academic. I am not against scholarly material nor do I negate its value. I felt I had to re-read many sentences and paragraphs and de-code what the author meant, sometimes unsuccessfully. I realize my opinion of this book is not in alignment with the other positive reviews. I believe the material could have been presented in a better way. I do not recommend this book if you do not have a solid background in library science.

My (very smart and informed) ten year old loved this book, but already knew much of it. Then again he has me teaching him things other parents may not be talking about with their kids, and has attended two of the best elementary schools in the country, so he'd been taught much of it already. If either of these scenarios aren't present for your child, I highly recommend this book. I think it may have been better for an eight or nine year old, or for a kid who hasn't learned enough about what makes our country so special. Well written, well done.

Sadly, today's education system has all but removed the Founding Fathers from an agenda-driven curriculum designed to ensure that America is viewed as evil rather than exceptional. This book should be required reading for all students. In plain, easy to understand terms, the Founders speak to a generation that has been denied a sense of pride and called upon to apologize rather than celebrate. This book celebrates our Founders and provides a message to the young: Ignore your elders (and your President) who claim America is the problem. America is the solution. Read this yourself and then let your children learn how our system of government WAS the greatest in the world from the Founders themselves.

This is an outstanding book for both young people and adults because we know that young people today are not being taught the true history and greatness of this country and the principles on which it was founded. Most adults today weren't taught it either unless they are senior citizens. It would make an excellent textbook for government classes and also home schooling. Not only is it a teaching tool, but it is done in a very humorous way. I have given two copies away to people with children (one is only a year and a half old, but it's never too late to plant the seeds) and am keeping one for myself for now.

I have several of David Bowman's books. He is extremely talented and my 13-year-old absolutely raves over this book. It is a very engaging history book that also makes you think. Get it!

I teach 4th and 5th grade in an EBD classroom. This book is wonderful for my students. We are reading it as a class but it can easily be read on your own. I love that it gives real experiences and that it teaches my students different techniques to help then manage their behavior. My students have said more then once "that sounds like me" or "I have that problem too". It even has self evaluating quizes and different worksheets that I copy to have my student complete on their own. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has a child with an emotional behavioral disorder.

I purchased Kids with Behavior Challenges because I wanted to better understand how to manage my exceptional son. He has no diagnosed behavior issues, but he is extremely intellectual and intimidates his peers often, so he regularly finds himself lashing out in response to their actions. Recently he made a bad choice... A really bad choice and began acting out at home and at class. We used this book to better help understand how help him make better decisions on his own and how to stop escalating conversations before they become heated. This is a great book that covers a wide range of behavioral issues and how to keep you and your child moving in a positive direction with skills that will benefit you and them for the rest of your lives.

My son really likes this book so far. I have seen an almost immediate improvement in his behavior and accountability, as have his teachers. Totally worth it for anyone struggling with adolescent behavior challenges.

I love this! My son is 7yrs old a bit to young to understand and read on his own so I read them out loud for him. Every night we read a few pages so he doesn't get overwhelmed! I swear every topic he can relate to and just smiles & laughs knowing that he isn't the only one facing these challenges. My child understands it's ok to talk about feelings instead of holding them inside. He also loves the mirror challenge everyday, great way to build his self esteem...... I could go on & on. This is well worth it!

Oh, how I wish I had this journal when I was a teen. I was obsessed with journaling back then, but there was never anything this gorgeous and fun when I was younger.Patricia Wooster created a 12-month journal that focuses on play, spirituality, strength, and purpose. The activities hone in on a young teen's talents and personality traits, which I find so uplifting. Ultimately, the goal of this journal is for a young girl to get to know who she really is. What an awesome thing to look back on years down the road!I'm in love with the colors, fonts, and overall theme of this journal. It's very high-quality. I can’t say enough good things about this guided journal for teen girls - in this fast-paced time when so many teens seem to have their futures figured out before they even apply to college, it can be hard to be the one who doesn’t have it all figured out.
