Ben Ryan is one of the most successful rugby coaches in the history of the game, and the man who took Fiji to rugby sevens Olympic gold in Rio 2016. It was the island nation's first Olympic medal of any colour, and was recognised by the International Olympic Committee as the best male team performance at the 2016 Games. I love how this book came sooner then expected in great condition, and with a book mark!!I loved the book. As a fan of Rugby 7s and Fiji 7s I was blown away at the content. Ben Ryan really helped me understand a lot of what happened behind the scenes of what He faced and what it took to help the Fiji 7s team win back to back series champions and the gold medal at the Rio Olympic. It’s an awesome book and you should buy!!

My goodness! Just reading over Ratu’s words and memories of his journey to Fiji. Absolutely inspiring. The stories about the individual players and their backgrounds. 20/10 if I could. Well done Ratu! Excellent book. A definite recommend!

While a lot has been said and published about Fiji's Olympic dream coming true, Ben Ryan's account in Sevens Heaven is the only one able to provide all the human, heartfelt, serendipitous details that make this story so special. I would highly recommend this book not only for rugby fans, but for anyone who believes sport is about more than the money and the spectacle.

Ben offers in a spectacularly unique way, a mere glimpse into the murky gob that is Fijian 7s rugby and its journey to Rio; with a golden twist. His story is one that needs to experienced first hand. Words do no justice to what he has achieved.

Inspiring, moving, loving. Loved the knife and fork boots. Reminded me of my holiday in Fiji so long ago - Bula, Kava, Fiji Time, and such warm and welcoming people. People poor in money but rich in heart. Changes you for the better. Well done Ben!

Great read on a different perspective. As ardent fans of 7s rugby we are often blind to the inner machinations of a team. Completed reading this book overnight, amd now rewatching the games from the beginning of Ryans career and cross referencing with the book to see the nuances and explanations behind certain decisions. I think the narrative format originally deployed in The Goal has been overextended here. Once you understand the heavyweight ideas of TOC, you're ready to accept new ideas in a more condensed format, such as in The Race. This book felt like a short commentary on some of the technological implications of TOC, embedded in a rather boring story short on details. I'm also afraid that technology has evolved much faster and farther in the years since publication, with far greater implications than anyone would have guessed. Technology may still be necessary but not sufficient, but increasingly it is changing the rules, not just operating within them.

To say that there's nothing of value here is incorrect. True, it helps to have read The Goal. Not only is an explanation of drum-buffer-rope needed, so is a definition of Murphy. No doubt this alienates the uninitiated, as might the book's meandering plot. However, there are a few ideas here that are pure gold.One such idea is that using technology to add value by increasing capacity only improves net income when overhead is cut. I have personally seen ERP value proposition spreadsheets that haphazardly combine income statement and capacity improvements to arrive at a total "value created" number for the client. Capacity improvements are a means to value creation, not an end. Technology firms that misunderstand this will have problems cost justifying their solutions to their clients. They should read this book.Another golden idea is that technology deployment is only one part of the business improvement process. The other (perhaps more important) part of the process comes from changing the success metrics surrounding the area that deploys the technology. For example, if Tyson pays its plant managers to maximize efficiencies, it's natural that they will increase the chicken supply regardless of expected demand, burning cash in the process. Accordingly, technology driven capacity increases will drive up finished goods inventories unless firms change the way they reward their plant managers.This book has bold implications for CPFR software users. How likely is it that plant managers at the top of the supply-chain will do what's in the best interest of the entire supply-chain if doing so makes them look like they are doing a poor job? Not many. And what if the members of a given supply-chain are different companies, with different lending ratios, stock prices, industry benchmarks, and so on? And whose customer is the end-user anyway? Thought provoking.If anything, the book educates supply-chain students that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Sure it's fun to think theoretically about supply-chain management, but the real world is a cruel mistress. This book reminds us that if CPFR and ERP were such a great ideas, then there would be no unprofitable vertically integrated companies. Reason enough to buy the book.

Goldratt is over rated, somehow he turned a simple graph theorem in to a management industry.

The Goal set a super high standard, perhaps. This book is a similar story style, but just doesn't convey nearly as much valuable information as The Goal. If you like Goldratt's book, I would say this is a "necessary" read, but its surely "not sufficient."

You can get most of the same material by listening to Beyond The Goal, but I found this to be excellent reinforcement of the ideas and somewhat more detailed. The writing was more hurried than other books by Dr Goldratt. It is still just as effective as the others.

Although fictional, the life cycle of the process of discovering the gap between perceived and actual value was excellent. Highly recommended reading

After reading the "Goal","Its not Luck" and "Critical Chain", this was sort of a let down.This book makes some good points, like on focussing at what isuues the technology should resolve. But there aren't as many thought-provoking or "ah-ha" moments as in the other books.I also felt that there was a lot of unnecessary ToC promotion in this book.All in all, read the other books. Read this one if you have time.

A brilliantly written novel that does, for an entire supply chain, what The Goal did for production. It explains clearly the need for a holistic approach that embraces the I.T. function. The book has an excellent example of how addressing a constraint in one area (production) unavoidably leads to disaster in the distribution channel.This book gives I.T. professionals and anyone wondering about the value of their computer systems an incredible business education in a fast-paced 4 hour read. Not only does it do a brilliant job of explaining the problems, but it even gives tangible solutions.

This book really helped us in our search for activities.

Great resource and easy to use while on the road during your trip. Great color pictures and maps. Used in conjunction with another travel guide for an excellent trip to Maui. Not quite as good as others for off-the-beaten-path non-tourist destinations, but excellent otherwise.

Excellent information with specific itineraries for day trips depending on length of stay in any area on the island.Lots of good info and details on shopping, dining, tourist areas, ets.Very helpful!

Just got back from a trip to Maui, the Lonely Planet really helped. Good collection of ideas and things to do. I liked the full color version over the old Lonely Planets I have for various destinations!Road to Hana chapter was a bit dissapointing, it did not mention that there is NO place to stay until you reach the end...

It's like shoes--you have to try on several pairs until you find one that fits perfectly.A good guidebook is your constant travel companion, like a pet dog. You'll refer to it all the time, consulting it, more than reading it like a novel. You want accurate information FAST, and access to information is critical.Printed on a semi-matte paper stock, in full color, this pocket-sized guidebook crams a lot of information in its 304 pages. Published by Lonely Planet--my favorite publisher of guidebooks, along with Insight Editions--this book is organized by location, and in the back portion of the book, has all the reference information.The type is small but readable, and the use of color to highlight the text is done well: it draws attention but doesn't distract.Color-tabbed on the pages' edges for easy access to each section, this book covers as astonishing amount of information in one compact volume.As with any guidebook, it's best to at least skim through a few pages to get a sense of how they handle the material. I tend to avoid text-heavy travel guidebooks with ONLY text in b&w and few photos, since I think color is essential for a travel guidebook, and the use of color in the text throughout makes it an easy reading experience. The book was a holiday gift for a friend. I have no problem with the book itself it was greatly received by my friend which I also had to apologize for the book's condition. The corner was dinged, I worked for a publishing company and I have seen this happen to many books so I am in the frame of mine that the publisher let it go without pulling it to place for discount sale. I read a few reviews with similar complaints so I am going with an internal issue, that's a shame. I had other gifts for my friend and still I was sorry to present a person who has a great love of books and respect for their care a new book with a flaw, had it been a second hand it is understandable.

Found this at the library and then bought it as a birthday gift with a few mixers for a friend. The book is well written, well illustrated, and filled with clever puns and good cocktail recipes. I am excited to try them.

This book is amazing so so awesome great greatly written. The issue I have is whoever at Amazon or whoever selling this book, I bought this book new and it has a rip in the corner. So be careful if you buy things new rather than used they still will look used. This is a gift to my sister in law and I have to give it to her like this.

This is my second go to book. It's great while learning cardiology and trauma medicine. The heart itself can be a very complex and complicated organ and EKGs might feel intimidating at first but this book alongside classroom education, hands on education, pharmacology and your main trauma medicine book , are your survival guides. The layout is perfect, easy to find things, easy to add stick notes or your own handwritten notes. Cardiology changes with AHA every once in awhile but this book versus the most recent has no dramatic changes, so if I lost this book I'd feel comfortable buying the year of this book again. The pages don't bend or tear which is nice conclsidering the book is 5 years old and yes it took me 5 years to write a review but all the better because I can say it is durable and up to date with current standards.

Better than than the book

This was a great reference book during my Family Practice Residency. It was organized well and so small that I could carry it in my pocket. I was able to look up what to do quickly and I was lucky to have it. Thank you! It was delivered on time and in perfect condition.

great little reference for use during on-calls, even for Cardiology trainees, but guidelines are being updated again and AHA may come out with new version soon.Flow-charts formmanagment of arrythmias and CAd are very useful. Overall a good buy.

I bought this to update from the 2000 version. A handy reference and easy to bring along, with tons of useful information and flowcharts. Is also helpful when reviewing for ACLS re-certification.

I highly recommend this for anybody working in emergency medicine. Along with this title, I would purchase the quick-reference cards.

Very comprehensive .. very good review to keep in your lab coat to review in down times in a busy ER. Since this is rare to non-exitant in the ER, to get some down time, it's a very nice quick reference to keep those skills honed.
