Once again, author Bobby Akart has taken us on an epic journey of survival when one of the biggest threats to mankind decides to let the world know it is not happy. The Yellowstone caldera rears its ugly head and causes mass destruction and death, leaving nothing in its path but obliteration and mayhem. As we follow the two main characters, Jake and Ashby on their trek away from ground zero, we learn that the caldera was not the only thing to be afraid of when the shtf. They found out the hard way that nowhere is truly safe and to trust no one until they can prove themselves. As the two of them travel to hopefully find some respite and a safe haven, they are met with many unthinkable situations that have them questioning their fellow human beings and surroundings. It made me lose faith as I read along, seeing what depravity comes out of a time of crisis when we should all be coming together to help each other survive. But as with all of Bobby Akart’s books, the realism of what happens at times like these is nothing short but a lesson on what to look for, how to prepare and to remember…there is always hope if you keep the will to survive. This final book in this series is one of the finest I have read. Not only because of the entertainment factor but because of what Mr. Akart put into it…his heart and soul. Throughout this whole series, the amount of time and research that he must have done to bring us such an outstanding series is immeasurable. The details are phenomenal and the information about the Yellowstone Caldera…incredible! Thank you Bobby Akart for the wonderful series…the hours of enjoyment and most of all, for the knowledge that I have picked up along the way while reading your stories. I look forward to the next series where I know you will once again bring into light a headline from the news, long before it ever happens.
It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. ~ Charles DarwinThis is the final book in the Yellowstone series. I didn't like this book quite as much as the first three. The first three books were pretty straightforward science-driven books and this one throws a bit too much romancey feel good stuff into it. I like romances - don't get me wrong. And it would have been better to have more of the romance scattered among the first three books instead of all piled in this one. Or just to have more of a straight science disaster book.Jake and Ashby escape California on a yacht and then try to figure out where to call home, away from the ash fall from the Yellowstone supervolcano. This is still a good book and an okay ending to the series. Be sure to read the first three books before this one.
Jake and Ashby start their long journey by sea, as it appears to be the only chance of escaping the deadly fallout from the Yellowstone eruption and the chaos that is engulfing the United States. What they believed to be a great adventure on the open sea and more importantly an escape from the death and destruction that has occurred, turns out to be anything but peaceful or an escape.Bobby Akart does not disappoint as he takes you for a thrill ride from California down the coast of Mexico and beyond. He has you from the first page of Yellowstone: Survival. He has again created characters that you love, and also several who you hate. His grasp of the sea and the areas of Southern California and Mexico will astound you but as Jake and Ashby have to continue their search for safety Bobby takes you to little known Islands that may or may not b esafe from the evil, not of Yellowstone, but of mankind at their worst.Jake and Ashby also find that many people can be kind and wonderful and they must put their faith in them if they want to survive what Mother Nature has brought down on mankind. BUT is Mother Nature just waiting to bring forth her wrath on them and the world again in the future. Bobby Akart is able to do the best of anyone is to keep you on the edge of your seat through out and to leave you wanting more. Another great book by the master of TEOTWAWKI genre!!!!!!! Five Stars all the way!!!!!
The warning sign was right there up front and I knew it wasn’t going to be the volcano blowing smoke up my butt. In addition to the usual pontificating quotes, the author quotes ... himself. WTF. He actually quotes himself at the front of his own book.Well, that’s a swinging set. The brass monkey nevers finds his missing ones, either as the cold egotism stays rife throughout all episodes. Whether the hero and heroine implausibly stop to have sex on the high seas having stolen a cabin cruiser from THE BAD GUY without wondering if they’re being pursued or whatever silly malarkey he comes up with, it’s on this level.Oh, and he waxes rhapasodic - frequently - about guns, which loves. And about government, which he hates. And how much he blames government for blowing up volcanoes which kills everyone. If you can figure out that nonsense you’re a better person than me. It’s pretty infantile logic, but I don’t have any of my quotes at the front of his books.
Never underestimate the depravity of man†has been quoted in prior Bobby Akart books but totally relates to this riveting conclusion of the Yellowstone series. A rapid, fast paced, struggle from the first to the last page. The reality of death, destruction, and evil follows our characters, Jake and Ashby, along the path to survival. This book highlights the creativity and the depth of detail that goes into a Bobby Akart book.I also listened to the book on audible. Chris Abernathy did an amazing job with the narration. His building of suspense and crescendo at the end during the white shark sequence is just perfect. I was on the edge of my seat and holding my breath.Absolutely wonderful book Bobby Akart and well done Chris Abernathy.
