About the Author

Marie-Pierre Moine has more than 20 years' experience in the food and wine media. A past editor of Taste magazine (UK), she has had a monthly food column for House & Garden since 1995. She is a food and travel writer, cooking demonstrator and consultant, a member of the UK Guild of Food Writers, and on the committee of the Academy of Chocolate.Elisabeth Luard is a writer, journalist, and broadcaster with a culinary specialization. She is the current trustee director of the Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery. She is known for her cookbooks The Latin American Kitchen, The Food of Spain and Portugal, A Cook's Year in a Welsh Kitchen, and many more. She also contributes a column to The Oldie and Zester Daily. Ghillie Basan, a food writer, author, and broadcaster, grew up in East Africa, and has a degree in social anthropology and a Cordon Bleu diploma, which she combines in her work on the culinary cultures of Turkey, the Middle East, and North Africa. She has written more than 30 cookbooks, numerous food and travel articles, and is a spice expert. Basan lives in the Scottish Highlands where she runs internationally acclaimed cooking classes.

This is the best cookbook I've ever owned! I have a hand full of specialty books & BHG on the shelf... I usually look up recipes online and switching back to a book was difficult... but for the last month this has become a staple for us. Most are very healthy recipes and can be tweaked. SOME have "strange ingredients" but if you're not an adventurous eater don't turn this book away. If you really only eat mcdonalds and don't want to eat fresh ingredients, don't bother. I've been able to find all the ingredients I needed at my local grocery in california. There's simple soups like Minestrone (which does in fact tell you how to soak the beans over night etc...but just use a can of beans instead!) Many of the recipes look time consuming but can be cut down using canned ingredients. Even grocery stores sell things now already cut. If you love spicy food there's plenty of recipes with Harrissa paste, which if you don't own it go hunt it down (or where I've added it in and it's been great!) The best part is the pictures. This book will live on your cookbook holder (if you don't have one add that to your cart too!)

I bought this book for my boyfriend who requested a Mediterranean cookbook. We are both foodies and love every recipe that we have tried from it so far. I've never had that type of success with a cookbook before and I have a closet full of them. The pictures are amazing and there is one for almost every recipe. I'm a vegan, so you know that if I love it you will too. I'm buying a second one to keep at my house!

This is the best cookbook I've ever had! It's hard to find a Mediterranean cookbook that isn't diet related...this one isn't which is a huge plus. (None of us need to lose weight...and real food tastes better.) I have switched to a lot of online recipes, so I hesitated when buying a paper book. I'm so glad I did! We don't use prepackaged mixes or bottled sauces, so I was very pleasantly surprised that everything was from scratch. If you like to cook and you love your spice cabinet this book is for you! Gorgeous pictures and amazing recipes!

The dish titles are in the origin language, which makes them more exotic but authentic. I could go to any of these countries (some day, lol) and order them off a menu. And with this cookbook I can make them at home first. It's just a cool, healthy way of living and a smart way of cooking. The pictures are great, the recipes manageable and the effort that went into this collection very much appreciated. Its awesome.

This is the hardcover edition of a comprehensive guide to Mediterranean cooking. Most of the recipes are down to earth, but some call for exotic ingredients that I do not regularly see in my supermarket.

This is a lovely cookbok with many recipies and wonderful photographic illustration. My only problem with it is that it came with a broken spine so it does not look new. I am not returning it because I want to use it NOW. Haha. I can get over the broken spine.

Nice large cookbook. Easy to read recipes and easy to prepare Mediterranean meals. The pictures in this cookbook are amazing! Highly recommend!

This is a great book - very well organized, the instructions are clear and accurate, and there are great two-page spreads of foods by country, spices, and varieties of foods so even people new to mediterranean cooking (and not good cooks, like me) can create recipes that look way too complicated. Plus delicious recipes and great photo's!
