PLEASE NOTE: It looks like Amazon has the reviews for the limited edition, multi-author collection "With Dreams Only of You" (which is no longer available) mixed together with Kathryn Le Veque's novella "With Dreams" which is the first story in the above mentioned anthology but can also be read as a standalone. I just wanted to let others know of the mixup to help avoid any confusion you may have. My review is only for WITH DREAMS...Setting: 1272 A.D. Hadrian's Wall, with a Prologue more than a thousand year earlier in 124 A.D.WITH DREAMS is a tale about two knights, the lady they love, and an ancient Roman sword. It was equally tragic and romantic and is a story of obsession, vengeance, hope, and eternal love...This is the third novella I've read by Ms. Le Veque and like the other two, I really enjoyed it. Although short (it has just over 1400 kindle locations) I found it to be an engaging and compelling story. The prologue actually had me with tears in my eyes when it ended, and that was at the very beginning of the book! The characters were well fleshed for such a short story too. I liked Sir Eryx (though he seemed a little soft for a knight) but loved Lady Frederica who was strong and smart and didn't take crap from anyone. I even felt sympathy for Sir Robbin (the villain) though as the story progressed my compassion turned to disgust. And even though Eryx and Frederica only shared a single kiss at the end, I had no doubt that these two loved each with their entire beings. I do wish the ending had been less rushed and included an epilogue or something, but overall it was a fast paced, action packed, and entertaining romance. This was a brilliant six-novel-anthology that started with the story of a gladius (Roman sword) owned by a Roman soldier who inscribed poetic words on his gladius as a legacy to be returned to the beloved wife (Theodosia) he left behind as he died, and which was “linked” to a poesy ring that he gave to his wife upon their marriage. The other five stories carried the legend of the sword through romances occurring during the following eras, terminating with a contemporary romance that ended in Scotland and England. It was so exciting to uncover each story about the legend and the people it touched through the ages. A wonderful concept for an anthology…and I hope there is another one like it in the future.

I very much enjoyed this historical journey following the Theodosia Sword and the couples it drew together through history. There were some disconnects that distracted me from the stories, however, First, where did the poesy ring come from? It suddenly appeared in Eliza Knight's story, without any background or explanation. Then it became critical to the remaining stories. Also, the curse associated with the sword wasn't explained very well. Was the curse only activated when the ring and the sword were separated? I only was able to guess at that in the final story. Otherwise, the collection was very good, and I highly recommend it.

The start had me teary eyed. But each chapter, each era that the story takes place in is written by a different author and yet the story still flows together as time, the sword and then the ring move on. The symbolism is fantastic. The authors each give it their own special touch with their writing styles. The rivalry, passion, strife, characters evolve. The stories transcend time and continents.The dollar value on this collection goes beyond the pittance you pay for it. Well worth the value and I would so recommend this book. I am a historical romance addict but the modern story at the end had me hooked and it fit with every other story in the end.

I was impressed that multiple authors could carry this generational saga forward with a unity of style and, more importantly, a similarity in the feel and texture of the telling.. Each story varies from the others in its situational constructs, but moves the tale forward harmoniously, delightfully, to a justifiable and satisfying climax. Truly, although the parts are each good, the sum of them all is greater. Just perfect!

Have you ever seen an artifact, or maybe an antique and wondered what had happened to it in all the years of its existence? It's fun to wonder about old things, but even more fun to read a story about an ancient sword, the places it went, the people who owned it, those who wanted to own it and those who feared it was cursed. Six excellent authors put their heads together and created a wonderful story that spanned the ages. It begins in 124AD when a young soldier is about to die a violent death and knowing the end is near, inscribes a message to his beloved Theodosia on his sword, hoping that somehow the sword will find her. Each author chose a different time period to tell a story of different people who owned the sword and the effect it had on their lives. The last story brings us up to present day, and an exquisite ending, so very tender it brings tears to your eyes. A wonderful read that you can't put down. Highly recommended!
