About the Author

Born and raised in small-town Texas, Jolie and Amie Sikes graduated from Texas A&M University but soon after realized the nine-to-five life was not for them. With only two thousand dollars and an old pick-up truck, the Sikes sisters went on to launch the wildly successful Junk Gypsy brand and become the stars of two hit TV shows on HGTV and Great American Country. They have been featured in countless newspapers, magazines, and television shows, including The Today show, Country Living, People Country, Southern Living, The Houston Chronicle, Fortune Small Business and more. In addition to curating and designing everything from clothing to housewares for their flagship store in Round Top, TX (population: ninety) and online store, the sisters design a line for Pottery Barn Teen and have a line of Junk Gypsy paint and Lane Boots.

What an amazing and inspiring story. This book is more than just junk (although it has a glorious amount of that,) but it is a story of family. The Sike's family are amazing people that you think could only exist in fairy tales. Mama and Daddy Sikes sent there daughters off to University with the expectation that they would happily enter corporate America, but the sisters souls were restless. They knew this was not their passion and left their secure futures to pursue their dreams. They knew they had a gypsy spirit and bringing life back to old and discarded items was their mission. They do it with grace, God, grit and a whole lot of glitter! This book will inspire even non junk gypsies to follow their arrow and pursue what they love!

I have broken a cardinal rule! Yes, it's true. I have dogeared a page in a book. I have dogeared, highlighted, written in the margins, circled quotes, underlined, and I am on my way back through for a second go. I LOVE BOOKS!!! They are amazing. They take us to a world where we didn't even realize we needed to go. I have never before dogeared a page in a book. That's the thing. This isn't just a book. It's life! It's joy, adventure, imagination, happiness, whimsy, laughter...it's life! Amie and Jolie are an inspiration. You think you can't live your dream? You think you have to live a life of "shoulds"? The Junk Gypsy girls are here to tell you that anything and everything is possible. Their story will make you laugh, cry, and get up off your DIY butt. Need a fire lit in the belly of the beast? Holy JuNkiNg goodness!!! This book is so full inspiration for every person on the planet! The photos in the book are incredible and the stories from the Sikes sisters are just over the top wonderful. Full of tips and tricks to paint and upcycle old items, you'll want to get to the nearest garage sale in a jiffy!!

I've been a Junk Gypsy customer for lots of years now, from the days of a tent store twice a year and a warehouse sale once or maybe twice a year to watching a dream unfold that is now the Junk Gypsy Headquarters. These girls and their family are a dreamer's #goals, they don't just take what comes at them for opportunity, but they stay true to themselves and the brand they have created in favor of someone or something that might compromise for the sake of "fame". They are a grassroots campaign for the dreamer in all of us, knowing when to work hard and when to throw glitter in the air and celebrate. The book is a look into the story that is Junk Gypsy, wonder and wander perfectly capture their story, sometimes you know right where you're going, sometimes you wander where you might end up and sometimes you wonder what could be. Deep in all of us, wonder and wander lies, thank you Amie and Jolie for putting it to inspiring word coupled with beautiful pictures. So much inspiration from two ladies who made their dream come true and make us all believe that the same can happen for us! Their's is a chippy, peely, glittery world and I loved being a part of it as I read through every page. Buy it!

Absolutely LOVE Junk Gypsy and Amie and Jolie's story! It could be my story too had I not been so young and dumb. But I love the shabby chic designs and will certainly will learn a lot from this book. They inspire me! I love junking, I love antiques and flea markets, so this is for me! It's for you too, if you love the same thing! Check it out....you will be so glad you did! <3

Ok, so there is a lot about these sisters and their journey in this book, but it still is fun eye candy. There are a few project instructions, but this book is more about an attitude. I like to just look at this book to see things I might have missed on tv. The chippy, peely junk with some glitter thrown in (or on) is just pure fun! I like having this book on the coffee table for a bright spot in the day.
